David Harris (Illinois politician)
David Harris is a retired Senior Army Officer and a member of the Illinois House of Representatives serving as the representative for the 53rd District since the redistricting in 2013. He was formerly The Adjutant General of Illinois from 1999 to 2003.〔
==Biography==
Harris served as a State Representative from 1983 to 1993. He left state government in 1992 to become the Senior Vice President of the Illinois Hospital Association.〔("David Harris" ). ''98th Illinois General Assembly''. Retrieved November 17, 2014.〕 He returned to government service in 1999 as The Adjutant general (Commanding General) of the Illinois National Guard.〔 Harris was inducted into the Ft. Benning (GA) Infantry OCS Hall of Fame in 2002, and he retired from the Army as a federally-recognized Major General in 2003 after 33 years of service.〔 Harris served in Iraq with the US Department of State as the Deputy Director & Chief of Staff of the Iraq Reconstruction Management Office (IRMO).〔
In 2010 Harris ran again for the Illinois House of Representatives and won a seat in the 66th District, his former district. He was redistricted to the 53rd District in 2013.
